OpenArchitecture offers a part-time route to obtaining architectural qualifications, optimising practice-based and online learning and is not bound to geographic location.

Do you want to advance your architectural qualifications, but you are not in a position to return to University full-time? OpenArchitecture is partnering with accredited Architectural Learning Sites to offer part-time courses for people like you.

The first University to partner with OA is the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). In 2014 a two year part-time BTech: Architectural Technology (Applied Design) programme was introduced, presented as office-based, online and through occasional face to face block release studios.

OpenArchitecture is working on a range of future part-time programmes including the MArch(Prof) and MTech(Prof), but commencement dates are not yet available.

OpenArchitecture will be managed as a Section 21 Company through the South African Institute of Architects (SAIA). SAIA will seek support for the accreditation of OA courses by the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) and other accrediting bodies as deemed appropriate from time to time.
